Michigan town installs parking kiosks for park, beach visitors

June 5, 2020

Visitors to several Muskegon, Michigan parks are now required to pay for parking at recently installed kiosks, according to an mlive.com report. The kiosks are intended to cover costs for beach and park maintenance.

Visitors will pay $5 for weekday and Sunday parking and $7 for Saturday parking. Summer passes are $20. City residents can request a pass on the city's website to park for free.

Visitors who do not display a parking pass will be charged a $30, while failing to display it properly will cost a $10 fine.

In the first year, the cost to cover purchasing and installing the kiosks, enforcement and administering passes is estimated at $169,510. The kiosks are expected to collect around $123,000 per year.
