Michigan residents utilize self-service kiosks for driver license renewals

Michigan residents were able to renew vehicle licenses at self-serve kiosks at Kroger stores when state offices closed New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, according to a report in The Oakland Press.

Users can print a license tab and receipt after verifying their information and inserting a credit card, according to the Secretary of State website. Transactions can usually be completed in seconds.

An employee at a Ferndale, Michigan-based Kroger said about 15 people per day use the kiosk as late as midnight, when the store closes.
