Memphis utility payments kiosks burgled

December 2, 2010

WMC-TV in Memphis, Tenn., reports that at least four suspects were caught on camera breaking into Memphis Light, Gas and Water (MLGW) kiosks and stealing customer payments.

Surveillance cameras captured footage of one of the four suspects who police say broke into the two MLGW payment kiosks.

An MLGW spokesman says that only cash payments were taken — no checks — and that the payments were already in the system, so customers will still receive full credit for the stolen payments. All four area MLGW kiosks have since been taken out of service as a safety precaution, according to the report.
