MaxBotix releases presence detection solution for kiosks

MaxBotix unveiled its ProxiView-EZ Series for presence detection at kiosks and smart buildings. It can detect people from 1 millimeter to 5 meters away, according to a press release.

The series aims to address issues with single-sensors such as false activation, lighting sensitivity and issues detecting stationary people. It can detect people regardless of ambient lighting with internal temperature and supply-voltage compensation. It can run in low-power mode as well.

"Presence detection plays a critical role in how intelligent and reliable a kiosk feels," Scott Wielenberg, sales and marketing director at MaxBotix, said in the release. "ProxiView-EZ was designed specifically for real-world kiosk environments, where conditions vary throughout the day and predictable sensing behavior is required at scale."
