Materna to present new tech at Passenger Terminal Expo

April 3, 2013

At this year's Passenger Terminal Expo in Geneva, Switzerland, new products relating to convenient, efficient passenger processing will be presented for the public for the first time by Materna, a provider of integrated passenger services.

Among the solutions to be displayed is its latest generation self-service baggage drop, with features such as excess luggage detection and handling, bag tag printing and RFID support.

Along with the traditional CUSS check-in kiosk, Materna will showcase its check-in app for tablets and smartphones. The check-in app can be used for a number of airlines, the announcement said.

Materna will also present biometric facial recognition technology in conjunction with its partner Gunnebo. Biometric data recording not only improves secure access for the passengers, but also allows faster processing through the gate, the announcement said.

"The plans are to add a biometric facial recognition function to the established Self Boarding application," said Reinhard Augustin, director of transportation at Materna.

The Passenger Terminal Expo will take place April 9-11.
