At this year's Passenger Terminal Expo, March 10–12 in Paris, aviation specialist Materna will showcase self bag drop-systems with a new kiosk payment feature. Visitors at Passenger Terminal Expo will be able to see live demonstrations of the latest common-use self bag drop version with different types of kiosks and scanning modules at stand 3050.
Materna said it has enhanced its aviation solutions and has now integrated all the features a modern bag drop system needs in order to provide passengers with the best possible service. Passengers are now able to use credit cards to pay any excess baggage fees directly at the self bag drop kiosk or via a mobile payment device handled by a floorwalker.
The company said that Gatwick Airport is the first airport worldwide to introduce kiosk payment for self bag-drop systems to simplify baggage check-in for its customers. Materna said it has been awarded the contract for this and will install 50 systems at Gatwick Airport starting in April.
