Everett, Massachusetts' new parking kiosks with smart meter technology went live throughout Everett Square last week, according to The Everett Independent.
The kiosks will operate in pay-by-plate mode, meaning the user enters their license plate number into the kiosk, then pays for the amount of time using coins or a credit card.
The new kiosks will improve the appearance of streets by reducing the number of meters, said Mayor Carlo DeMaria. They will also be much more convenient for residents by allowing them to pay with coins or credit cards, and enable the city to manage parking more efficiently.
