The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) will open its tenth self-service Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program (VEIP) kiosk, according to WMAR in Baltimore. The kiosk will be installed at the full-service Howard County VEIP station in Columbia and will be available 24/7.
The VEIP kiosks can only be used to test vehicles not past the inspection due date, according to a notice posted on the state government website.
Qualifying vehicles must be model year 2005 and newer light-duty (under 8,500 pounds GVWR) and model year 2008 and newer heavy-duty (over 8,501 pounds GVWR and under 14,001 pounds GVWR).
The emissions test cost $10 at self-service kiosks. The kiosks accept credit cards only.
The VEIP kiosks conduct the same diagnostic test performed by technicians at full-service VEIP stations.
The nine other self-service kiosks are located at existing VEIP and MVA offices throughout the greater Washington and Baltimore area.
