Maryland county adds self-service sports equipment rental kiosks

Visitors to Chancellor's Run Regional Park can rent pickleball and bocce equipment, while the Lexington Manor kiosk offers disc golf gear. Rentals cost $5 per hour and are available daily from sunrise to sunset. Users download the Rent.Fun mobile app, select the equipment they want and use the app to unlock the kiosk. Equipment must be returned to the kiosk when the rental period ends.

The county said the service is intended to make recreational activities more accessible, particularly for beginners and occasional players who may not own the necessary equipment. Pickleball rentals include two paddles and six balls, bocce rentals provide six balls and a pallino, and disc golf rentals include a driver, mid-range disc, putter and carrying bag.
