LONDON -- Marconi Interactive Systems, manufacturer of payphones, Web phones and kiosks, has partnered with Airpath Wireless to provide wireless networking, or Wi-Fi, capabilities to its telephone and Internet-ready kiosks.
Airpath Wireless develops global management systems for the provision of wireless public access networks known as "hotspots." Airpath's WiBOSS management platform currently serves the back-office provision needs of about 400 wireless Internet service providers and 1,800 hotspots worldwide, according to a news release.
The final result is a seamless Wi-Fi experience for the end user. The customer will enter a venue where a Marconi kiosk is located and either access the Internet directly from the kiosk or wirelessly through the broadband Internet signal emitted by the kiosk. All the while, Airpath software is running in the background, maintaining the end user's security, authorization and billing.
