PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia -- Malaysia's Elections Commission is studying the possibility of implementing an electronic voting system using kiosks in future elections, according to The Daily Express.
"We still need to study the system carefully as it has to be well-received by the government, political parties and voters," commission secretary Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said.
"The main duty now is to create confidence among people that the (electronic voting) system is better than the existing one besides ensuring its security level and that results cannot be altered," he said.
Wan Ahmad said the commission likely would choose the touchscreen kiosk system rather than press-button systems since the United States, Australia, India and Germany have used the kiosks successfully.
