Channel NewsAsia: Singapore passport holders will soon be able to breeze through immigration checkpoints.
Using an enhanced Immigration Automated Clearance System, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority said it would take about 12 seconds to clear each person.
Clearing immigration using the 8-year-old automated system requires the use of an access card. But with the enhanced system, Singaporeans will be able to clear the automated gates using their existing machine-readable passports.
Travellers need only scan their document at the self-service kiosk before entering the automated lane.
