LONDON -- English kiosk developer Cityspace Ltd. is targeting London's homeless community with additional services to its i-plus kiosks.
The initiative is part of London mayor Ken Livingstone's strategy on homelessness, also known as the "Rough Sleepers Strategy," according to a Cityspace news release.
The homelessness project's Web site, www.homelesslondon.org.uk, has been redeveloped for the touchscreen environment. The i-plus kiosks provide users with information on the nearest hostels, rehabilitation centers, community services, helplines and counseling facilities, according to the release. Users also have access to free e-mail service, which can be sent anonymously.
Local government information, news, transport information and a job channel are accessible through the kiosks. In May, Cityspace launched a similar program targeting domestic violence victims (See story: UK domestic violence kiosks launch successfully).
