FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.-WireSpring Technologies, a developer of software for public-information terminals, has started a public beta-test period for version 2.5 of its FireCast Linux-based kiosk software suite.
This is the last stage of testing before the official release of the new software, according to a news release.
The 60-day beta test gives kiosk owners and integrators the opportunity to preview the upcoming release and suggest final changes.
Version 2.5 boasts improved remote management, enhanced reporting and more robust security controls to the packaged Linux solution. It is the first release of FireCast capable of reading Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents, the release said.
The FireCast software suite can be used for building and managing public information terminals, such as self-service kiosks and digital-signage systems. The suite is comprised of FireCast OS, a Linux-based operating system tailored to the interactive kiosk and digital signage markets, and FireCast ClientCenter, a Web-based remote management package.
