The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints reported strong global engagement from its 2025 Light the World Giving Machine kiosks, according to an ABC4 Salt Lake City news report. The kiosks operated from mid-November through early January. Nearly 1 million people visited the machines, which were deployed in 126 cities across 21 countries and six continents. The kiosks allow users to purchase essential items such as food, clean water, clothing and educational supplies for donation to vetted local and international nonprofits. In total, approximately 4.7 million items were purchased, with distribution to recipients still ongoing.
According to data released by the church, the donations are expected to provide 3.5 million meals, vaccinate 500,000 children against diseases such as polio and measles and supply 350,000 months of menstrual hygiene care. Additional impacts include clothing for 108,000 individuals, nearly 97,000 educational resources and 40,000 hygiene kits for vulnerable populations. Ronald A. Rasband, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, said the initiative reflects a commitment to service, citing biblical teachings about "doing good" and emphasizing charitable giving as a way to follow the example of Jesus Christ.
