Lastminute.com looks to raise profile at airports

October 21, 2002

LONDON -- Internet company Lastminute.com is planning to add more travel kiosks in area airports to introduce users to its Web site.

Kiosks at Heathrow Terminals 1 and 4 have proved successful, company chief executive and co-founder Brent Hoberman said.

"The research shows they are used eight hours a day," Hoberman told TravelMole. "Booking is obviously lower than when people use their own computers, but it is a good recruitment tool for us."

Hoberman declined to reveal the company's exact plans for more kiosks. The European travel and leisure Web site will launch its "dynamic packaging" product in November. Customers can tailor-make holiday packages.

"We'll have net rates of flights and hotels and after that we'll also be packaging theatres and restaurants," Hoberman said. "You will be able to package your own holiday, and there will also be a price advantage compared with pre-packaged holidays."
