Lakeland Electric has officially unveiled its new bill payment kiosks in Lakeland, Florida. The company hopes this new payments option will reduce delinquency rates, according to a report by The Ledger.
The kiosk is designed to accept cash, checks, credit and debit cards. There is a $1 processing fee for cash, which will be waived until Aug. 1, and there is a $2.95 fee for other payment options.
The kiosk will also allow the user to participate in the "pay as you go" program, where they can pay for electricity before they use it. The city of Lakeland is currently considering using the kiosk to provide community information or pay for other bills such as parking fines, according to the report.
