Kronos unveils workforce management software

October 19, 2003

LAS VEGAS -- Kronos Inc. has launched Workforce Central 5, a suite of human resources, payroll, scheduling, and time and labor software. The company suggests the technology for use on HR kiosks and other terminals.

Peter George, Kronos' chief technology officer, said in a news release that the software is targeted to organizations spanning industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, retail, government and education.

"Workforce Central puts tools in the hands of those closest to the action, and empowers them to enter information and perform simple transactions for themselves," said George.

"Engaging all employees in the day-to-day operations of the business, combined with automating your employee-centric processes and providing real-time information to decision-makers, is the foundation for improving performance."

To break down the barriers between various segments of a diverse workforce, Workforce Central 5 delivers enhanced employee-self service functionality built on a robust workflow platform.

This allows for the automation of common employee-centric processes that are often difficult to administer. Examples include online vacation requests, vacation bidding, shift swapping, shift bidding, training registration, and information on salary increases.

Paper forms and manual processes are brought online, streamlining the flow of information throughout the entire organization and keeping the appropriate people informed and connected to the process, the release said.
