A first-of-its-kind recycling kiosk was unveiled this morning in Arlington, Texas, as part of a joint effort by the city, Kroger and Coca-Cola, according to a story in the Dallas Morning News.
The "Reimagine" center automatically sorts bottles and cans dumped into its recycling bin. Each item — up to 200 a minute — is carried on a conveyer belt through optical scanners before being sorted, separated, crushed and stored, ready to be remade into new products. Users can also log in to the kiosk and receive recycling credits, good for free or discounted merchandise.
