Korean company gets its World Cup kicks

March 31, 2002

SEOUL, South Korea -- Korean kiosk manufacturer Dae-A Mediatech Co Ltd. has installed an information-Internet kiosk at Munhak Stadium in Incheon, South Korea, one of the sites for this year's World Cup soccer tournament.

The company's World Cup Kiosk 2002 features a 17-inch touchscreen monitor, printer, telephone, and coin payment slot. Soccer fans can use the kiosk to access information on the Incheon venue and surrounding communities, along with information on the tournament itself. Customers will be charged for printing maps and other information.

Construction was completed on the 52,000-seat stadium last December and is one of 20 stadiums being used in Japan and South Korea for this year's World Cup.

Incheon will host three first-round matches at this year's tournament: Costa Rica vs. Turkey on June 9, Denmark vs. defending world champion France on June 11, and Portugal vs. South Korea on June 14.

Dae-A Mediatech is based in Seoul, South Korea, but also has a manufacturing facility in Incheon, located nearly 20 miles west of Seoul.
