Kogniz provides a no-contact, multi-person thermal security platform that uses artificial intelligence to track fevers from a distance, identify exposure risks, and enforce social distancing in real time, according to a press release.

Kogniz monitors body temperature rather than skin temperature, providing the most accurate reading for detecting symptoms of COVID-19. The system applies AI algorithms to calculate baseline temperature in real time. There is no calibration, single file lines, long waiting periods or "sumbrellas" necessary, according to the press release.

Skin temperature fluctuates and is more susceptible to changing weather conditions, such as sun, fog, rain, wind and snow, according to the company. Many thermal solutions also require outdoor sunshades, long waiting periods when entering a building to give subjects time to adapt to ambient temperatures, and recalibration every 30 minutes.

The Kogniz platform can send automatic health and safety alerts in real-time to managers and affected employees or visitors. It can also send alerts when too many people are in a space, thereby enforcing social distancing requirements.

The platform can also detect masks, protective clothing and other objects such as abandoned bags or guns for exposure protection or for enforcing social distancing requirements.

By dropping a subject’s photo into the platform, the manager can see every place that person has been in the building as well as everyone he or she came into a contact with over a defined time period.
