Knoxville replaces city satellite office with kiosks

May 7, 2010

The Knoxville News Sentinel reportsthat the city has closed its Five Points satellite office in East Knoxville and plans to replace the five laid-off employees with self-service kiosks. The paper reports that the closure is expected to save about $163,000 in salary costs.

The move has raised calls of protest from the laid-off employees, some of whom the report says allege political motivation behind the move.
