BROOMFIELD, Colo. -- Kiosk Information Systems (KIS) and NetShift are banking on consumers' willingness to pay for use of their pre-packaged, plug-and-go kiosks. A number of pay-to-use options are designed to generate rapid profit for kiosk operators, according to the companies' joint news release.
The pay-per-use kiosk, known as Shibby, uses NetShift software and provides consumers access to e-mail, video e-mail, the Internet and games. The kiosks feature cash acceptors and credit card readers along with security features that can block child access to adult Web sites, according to the release.
A network operations center alerts kiosk operators to any situations that call for human intervention, including a full cash box. The center also generates daily reports on usage patterns, according to the release.
The Shibby uses the KIS KW605 enclosure, made of steel and cast aluminum. It features a keyboard and industrial trackball that can withstand heavy traffic, according to the release.
