KIS launches plug-and-go pilot program

September 26, 2002

LOUISVILLE, Colo. -- Kiosk Information Systems, Inc. (KIS) has launched a pilot program for its new plug-and-go Shibby kiosks at various locations around Boulder, Colo.

Shibby kiosks offer pay-for-use options including Internet access, e-mail, video e-mail, games, weather, news and sports, according to a KIS news release. Some locations include television programs and local retail guides. NetShift, a global public access provider, developed the software.

Shibby pilot units have been placed in the food court at a Boulder, Colo., restaurant; Boulder Community Hospital's Community Medical Center in Lafayette, Colo.; and Comfort Inn and Best Western in Louisville, Colo.

The plug-and-go kiosks are easy to set up -- simply plug in the power cord and telephone line -- and include remote maintenance, according to KIS. Users are charged 25 cents per minute, delivering a quick return on investment for kiosk operators, according to the news release.

KIS did not indicate how long the pilot program will last.
