Kirkwood, Missouri police warn of uptick in bitcoin kiosk scams

Police in Kirkwood, Missouri, are warning of an increase in crypto kiosk/bitcoin ATM scams in the area. They said residents are reporting receiving phone calls, texts and messages online from scammers, according to a report by Fox 2 Now.

In many incidents, the scammers pretend to be law enforcement, tech support, banks, family members or romantic partners to create a sense of urgency and convince the victim to deposit money into the bitcoin ATM.

The police department is informing residents that no agency or business will request payment in bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies.
