Richard Rommel, director of digital retail systems for Eastman Kodak Co., has been named interim president of the kiosks.org Association advisory board. Rommel will serve at least until board elections take place next January and February.
Dick Good, chairman of the kiosks.org Association executive committee and an advisory board member, said the interim board was named to help direct operations until next year's elections. The interim board, he added, was selected from a wide range of industry leaders.
"The selection was based upon establishing a board with a cross section of our kiosk industry population in terms of company focus, company size, global coverage, male and female, etc.," Good said.
Along with Rommel, other officers include William Giaimo of IBM (first vice president), Michael Sigona of Elo TouchSystems Inc. (second vice president), and Greg Swistak of Factura Corp. (third vice president).
Other board members include Pail Baril of 3M Touch Systems, Elaine Bresnick (Swecoin Inc.), Tim Daw (NetShift Software Ltd.), Nelson Gomez (NCR Corp.), Tom Harper (NetWorld Alliance), Craig Keefner (kiosks.org Association), Karie Lester (Lexmark International Inc.), Rick Malone (Kiosk Information Systems Inc.), Alex Richardson (Netkey Inc.), Suzie Smith (NeoProducts Ltd.), and Richard Worden (KioskCom).
Interim chairmen are also being selected for a number of kiosks.org Association committees. Chairmen for all committees will be selected during next year's elections and during KioskCom 2002 next March in Orlando, Fla. Committees that are being staffed immediately include membership, research and statistics, best practices, technology and standards, and marketing and public relations.
