Kiosks to help patients better understand prescriptions

January 2, 2011

Kiosk software designed for prescription-medication information is now available from Top200R, a company targeting domestic and international high-volume retail pharmacies, pharmaceutical corporations, government agencies and educational institutions.

In addition to retail kiosks, the digital software can be accessed from anywhere in the world through iPad and iPhone apps and in 75 languages

According to the company's press release, "each medication description includes value-added information such as comprehensive lists of over-the-counter medications, herbal interactions, medicines in the same drug class and how to monitor drug efficacy."

"Top200Rx enhances the pharmacy consult because we know that not all consumers fully understand the information and do not ask their pharmacist or physician for language-specific information and clarification," said Omega Arteaga-Gamboa, the company's president and CEO.

The medication info has been exclusively written for Top200Rx in partnership with the University of the Incarnate Word, Feik School of Pharmacy, Drug Information Center in San Antonio, Texas. All information meets the requirements set forth by the FDA for consumer information.

"Top200Rx provides a communication link between physician, pharmacist and consumers globally, whether in the U.S., Asia or Latin America," Omega Arteaga-Gamboa said. "Top200Rx gives the consumer basic, beneficial and reliable information that will enable them to better understand prescriptions in their language and influence their health and quality of life."
