Kiosks to display history of Route 66

The Tucumcari Convention Center will deploy two video kiosks in March featuring photos and information about the Route 66 history of Tucumcari, N.M., and its surrounding area, according to the Quay County Sun.

Doug Powers, community development director, said several of the photos have reminded him of Tucumcari when he was growing up.

"So far several pictures have been submitted. The problem is trying to narrow down the ones we want to use," he said. "So many photos of places long forgotten. It makes you feel happy and a bit sad to see them again."

The kiosk system will be paid for with a $52,000 grant from the state's Scenic Byways program.
