PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Xplorion, an interactive regional showcase in downtown Pittsburgh's Regional Enterprise Tower, has attracted some 10,000 people in its first year of operation, according to a report in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
The 3,300-square-foot free attraction includes "XplorionConnect," a display with six browser-based digital kiosks that allow users to explore their favorite area of interests, business development opportunities and special events. It includes 1,200 possible links.
Another feature is "XplorionQuest," a virtual tour that allows visitors to interact with a "pilot" as they explore different parts of the region. Specific information about land use, population and natural features are included for almost 300 locations.
Xplorion is owned by the Southwestern Pennsylvania Corp., while the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance Business Resource Center manages and staffs the daily exhibits.
