Kiosks are helping homeowners pay property taxes in cash in Detroit, according to clickondetroit. The kiosks save people having to drive downtown to pay taxes. There are kiosks in 24 locations including 15 Rite Aid stores.
The kiosks offer an alternative to bill pay cash services that charge for making these payments. The kiosks also provide a certified receipt.
There are 35,000 homeowners that have to make foreclosure payments, according to the report. The kiosks save them the trip downtown, the wait in line and the parking fee.
The kiosks accommodate three languages.
A company called DivDat, a data processing company, has pioneered the concept.
