Kiosks in rural India to collect biometric data for IDs

According to Livemint.com,IT kiosks called "Common Service Centres (CSCs)" are being set up to offer digitized government services in rural areas, and will also help collect biometric data for India's unique identity (UID) project.

The Registrar General of India has an agreement with the project for coordinating biometric data collection for UIDs and India's ongoing national census and proposed using the approximately 100,000 CSCs being created.
