KioskCom opens up kiosk-award competition

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- KioskCom, organizer of the largest conference and exhibition devoted solely to interactive self-service kiosks, has opened the third-annual Interactive Kiosk Excellence Awards Competition.

KioskCom launched the Annual Interactive Kiosk Excellence Awards to recognize the top interactive self-service applications. Over the first two years, KioskCom has honored more than 20 companies in a variety of industries for their stellar kiosk projects.

This awards contest focuses on the success of the project for the companies that have implemented kiosks -- not on the kiosk technology supplier -- and aims to help companies promote these successful self-service technology programs.

Companies in the private and public sectors, as well as kiosk-technology companies, may submit applications. The focus of the program is on how the project was successful for the client, so their input is vital to applications.

Judges will award first and second places and honorable mentions where applicable in each category. The third-annual Interactive Kiosk Excellence Awards will be announced during the KioskCom 2004 Casino Night and Awards Reception hosted by ECCS, TAP Computer Services and Touchpoint Solutions April 27, 2004.

KioskCom 2004 takes place from April 26-28 at The Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. KioskCom will take applications for each of the following categories:

• Best Kiosk Application in a Retail Environment
• Best Kiosk Application for a Government Agency
• Best Kiosk Application in Financial Services
• Best Kiosk Application for Travel, Hospitality or Entertainment
• Best Human Resources Application
• Best Public Access Kiosk Application
• Best Interactive Gaming Application
• Best Software Application in a Kiosk Project
• Best Hardware/Enclosure Design for a Kiosk Project
• Most Creative/Best Use of an Input Device in a Kiosk Application
• Most Creative/Best Use of New Technology in a Kiosk Application

"The Interactive Kiosk Excellence Awards honor, recognize and promote the best interactive self-service kiosk implementations over the past year. The winners set the standards of excellence for future interactive self-service technology implementations," said Lawrence Dvorchik, executive director of KioskCom, in a news release.
