Kiosk uses satellite technology to improve land use in India

The North Eastern Space Applications Centre, a governmental entity in India, has installed a satellite-based information kiosk at the North Eastern Council headquarters in Shillong, according to firstpost.com.

Ram Muivah, NEC secretary, inaugurated the kiosk to showcase the capability of space technology for developmental planning activity through a single window system.

The kiosk will contain information on land use, wetlands, wastelands, a land degradation map, roads, drainages and soil maps for each of the states. It will also have groundwater prospect maps, wetlands infrastructures and inputs for disaster management.
