MANHATTAN, N.Y. -- The Personal Digital Pal project in Times Square will show how pervasive wireless devices are as a conductor for behavior, information sharing and universal communication.
According to an article in The Feature, through Dec.12, visitors can download software to their PDAs at a "beaming station" kiosk in Manhattan's Times Square. They can use the software to record their impressions and trace their paths around Times Square, then upload their notes to a Web site.
Creative Time and Panasonic, in cooperation with the Times Square Business Improvement District, present PDPal, conceived by artist Marina Zurkow, architect Scott Paterson and technologist Julian Bleeker with Web implementation and collaboration by Adam Chapman.
The Web site will contain the collectively authored, universally readable library of experiences associated with one of the world's busiest, most historic and most densely populated public places, the article said.
The goal of the project is to show anyone can have the power to read and write information associated with various places, and perhaps change the way we use cities and organize social activities.
