Kiosk software vendor touts uptime versus Internet bug

August 14, 2003

LEICESTER, United Kingdom -- Working Solutions said its Kiosk Monitor management and monitoring tool has proven itself against the latest Internet bug dubbed "LovSan" or "Blaster."

Many kiosks were affected by this bug, but all of the units protected by Kiosk Monitor were still up and running throughout the worst of the crisis, according to a news release. See related story, "Microsoft virus disables kiosks, PCs worldwide."

Kiosk Monitor scans customers' update files through its antivirus tools before downloading to the individual units. This virus-protection component is what has protected kiosks against the latest international attack, the release said.

Working Solutions Owner Neil Farr said, "We built the virus-protection system to combat exactly these situations to ensure that our customers' machines stay operating and driving their businesses forward."

He said it is "surprising" that after all the viruses and unwarranted attacks on IT systems of recent years, kiosk deployers are still falling victim to these scenarios.

Said Farr, "We are striving to include even more antivirus features in the next version."
