Kiosk project earns UK Jobcentres kudos

March 7, 2002

LONDON - Adapting modern methods to a traditional process has earned UK Jobcentres an award for technological excellence. The English employment firm's Jobpoints kiosk system was honored with the Most Innovative e-Business Project of the Year award at Computingmagazine's Awards for Excellence on Oct. 3 in London.

The Jobpoints kiosk system provides an electronic job bank to employment seekers, with access to more than 500,000 job openings available at any one time. The kiosks replace traditional job display boards at English employment centers.

The kiosk system was developed by NeoProducts Ltd., which manufactures the units at its facility in Birmingham, England. The company rolled the 6,000th Jobpoints kiosk off the assembly line on Sept. 28, and is contracted to provide 9,000 kiosks to UK Jobcentres. Completion of the project is scheduled for February, 2002.

UK Jobcentres also earned Web Site of the Year honors for making the service available over the Internet.
