Kiosk offers horse sense

October 9, 2003

ANNAGHMORE, Ireland -- The Annaghmore Saddlery is the first in Europe to have installed the Interactive Advice Kiosk developed by Bluegrass Horse Feeds and Kentucky Equine Research. The kiosk provides a full consultation on diets for horses.

According to an article in Farming Life, the system asks users questions about their animals, including the type of work they do, their level of exercise, and whether they have poor hooves or dull coats. The system then consults the Kentucky Equine Research database of suitable diets for horses.

The kiosk will print a recommended balanced diet and correct amounts for feeding on a stud card, the article said. Bluegrass Horse Feeds also offers on the kiosk an extensive library of information and articles to relate to nutrition and the management of horses.

"This will be a rich source of information for all levels of equestrian knowledge, from exams to vets," said Tommy McClelland, manager of Annaghmore Saddlery.

"It's an amazing bit of technology that helps us provide a better application of feed to our clients."
