Kiosk lets Mich. turkey hunters get ready for fall

LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan Department of Natural Resources officials reminded hunters that the application period for a 2003 Michigan fall turkey hunting license extends through Aug. 1. Hunters can apply for a license at customer-service kiosks in DNR operation service centers.

"A total of 34,950 licenses are available through a lottery for the fall turkey hunting season," said Al Stewart, DNR Upland game bird specialist. "Last fall, hunters spent 93,911 days afield pursuing turkeys and harvested 5,450 birds."

When applying online at the DNR's e-license system, hunters may use credit cards to charge their purchases.
