LAKE MARY, Fla. -- Kinetics Inc., provider of self-service technology to the airline and travel industries, has formed a joint venture with Quick Kiosk LLC, a Framingham, Mass.-based provider of self-service ordering systems for the quick-serve retail market. The new venture will be called Quick Kiosk, a Kinetics Company LLC.
Quick Kiosk has already introduced its self-ordering kiosks at about 40 McDonald's franchises in 12 metropolitan areas of the United States. The terminals allow McDonald's customers to self-service order at freestanding or countertop kiosks, using either credit card, debit card or cash for payment.
The terminals incorporate a suite of multimedia capabilities, including audio and animations. Customers can easily modify their orders to suit their personal preferences, according to a news release.
"Having transformed the airline check-in process at nearly 150 North American airports, Kinetics is now prepared to advance the same self-service revolution that we spearheaded in the travel industry elsewhere, including the fast-food business," said David Melnik, president and chief executive officer of Kinetics.
"As the acceptance of self-service has become the norm for airline passenger processing, Kinetics sees a major opportunity to introduce self-service ordering in the retail and hospitality markets."
"Our customers absolutely love the convenience and control of self-service," said Gary Moulton, owner/operator of six McDonald's franchise restaurants in the Winter Haven, Fla. area, each of which now has multiple Quick Kiosk ordering terminals.
"Self-service works for our customers, and it works for us by dramatically increasing our revenues and profitability as well as customer throughput. It's a win-win proposition for quick-serve franchisees and their customers," he said.
Todd Liebman, president of Quick Kiosk, said, "This joint initiative integrates the strengths of each company into a turnkey solution that encompasses every facet of self-service for the quick service industry, including hardware, software and after-sales support."
