The National Gender Commission in Kenya plans to install gender violence prevention kiosks in police stations, according to areport by Citizen News. Victims can use these kiosks to receive treatment, legal documents and services.
"Once a victim comes to the kiosks, he/she will be assisted in the process of acquiring justice such that all she needs to do is present herself in court if need be," Commission chairperson Winnie Lichuma said in an interview with Citizen News.
Lichuma argued that rapists are rarely punished for their actions in Kenya. The goal of this kiosk deployment is to bring rapists to justice by providing victims with evidence-gathering tools and legal support.
