Kentucky mandates Tesla EV charging plug

Kentucky has joined Texas and Washington in requiring EV charging companies to include Tesla's charging plug to qualify for federal funding for EV charging stations, according to a Reuters report.

Kentucky requires the Tesla plug, the North American Charging Standard, at charging stations under the state's request for proposal for its EV charging program. The state also requires the federal Combined Charging System.

The Kentucky plan took effect Friday, making it the first state to mandate the Tesla technology.
