EDINBURGH, Scotland -- Software developer KAL, the developer of the Kalignite middleware which faciliates development of Web-enabled applications for ATMs and kiosks, has introduced Kalignite for Branch, an open-standards middleware product for support of peripheral devices used for branch banking application development.
The new software is based on the Kalignite product family, where most of the tools, utilities and common code for all required types of devices are already in use in the "mission critical" ATM environment. Like other members of the Kalignite family, it is built upon the XFS open standard, according to a news release.
Also according to the release, Kalignite for Branch is installed in production in an unnamed UK bank.
Aravinda Korala, KAL's chief executive officer, said in the release, "Our business model at KAL is to work with all software developers and hardware vendors. We are continuing that policy with Kalignite for Branch and are now making it generally available to all interested OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) and systems integrators."
According to the release, Kalignite for Self Service and Kalignite for Branch can be used together to drive a bank's self-service machines as well as its branch peripheral devices in XFS banking applications.
Michael Rahman, the former SVP of Nexus Software, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Diebold Corporation, will head up worldwide sales of Kalignite for Branch for KAL.
"With Kalignite for Branch, the goal of multi-channel delivery of banking transactions becomes a reality," said Rahman in the release.
