GRAFTON, Wis. -- A general rule of thumb in the industry is that the best kiosk enclosures enable customers to recognize the purpose of the terminal from 20 feet away. This is the case with the John Deere Live Interactive Display Center Kiosk produced by Frank Mayer & Associates Inc.
The enclosure, which resembles the front of a tractor, won the 2003 Kiosk Magazine Award for Enclosure Design Excellence. See related story, "Design a key element of any kiosk project."
Immediately recognizable from any distance, this kiosk enclosure has been designed with both form and function in mind. With a small footprint and predominantly displayed John Deere logo, this enclosure is doing an effective job of leveraging the maximum brand awareness for John Deere.
The John Deere Live kiosk is a freestanding kiosk, constructed of high-impact ABS, molded plastic and a powder-coated metal frame chassis. The kiosk was constructed and engineered with a custom airflow system and wire routing in the enclosure.
Even with the small footprint of this kiosk, ample room was left for such necessary components as a speaker system, monitor, keyboard and CPU. The kiosk system was built fully assembled so that dealerships receiving the terminal could plug and play upon arrival.
