Budget airline Jetstar recently announced a new wrinkle in its plan to make check-in 100 percent self-service.
The Australian carrier is piloting a new SMS technology that will automatically check in customers 24 to 48 hours before their flight and send them a boarding pass via text message that can then be scanned at the boarding gate or at a self-service check-in kiosk, according to GoldCoast.com.au.
