Jersey town drops invisible kiosk parking meters

November 4, 2010

Cape May, N.J., is dropping a kiosk-based parking meter program on select streets because of complaints about visibility, according to the pressofAtlanticCity.com.

Some drivers that parked on the streets complained they never saw the kiosk controlling a space so they hadn't fed it. They still received a $32 parking ticket.

Others complained that they attempted to feed the kiosk but sun glare during the day and lack of instrument lighting at night made it impossible to read the screen.

Cape May will return to traditional meters on the streets where it is dropping the kiosks.
