Preciate, an Israeli startup, has introduced self-serve kiosks with facial recognition for restaurants, according to an israel21.org report.
The product uses a camera positioned at the storefront to determine if the person entering is a return customer, and, if so, what they previously purchased and what assistance they might require. A sales associate can see the data on an app.
The customer signs up with a selfie using their personal phone. They don't need to download the app; they press a link, enter personal information, consent and enter payment options if they wish.
Around 700 people signed up for the service at the Holon business center in Israel, 100 of which use the service daily.
Preciate is installing its self-service kiosks to restaurants in Tel Aviv, with plans to enter the U.S. QSR market.
