A test project to connect Irish farmers to the World Wide Web is expected to launch in four Irish government offices this week.
According to the Belfast Telegraph, the northwest Irish county of Donegal will receive one of the kiosks by May 24 at the Irish Department of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Development office in Raphoe. Offices in Ennis and Clonakilty, along with Agriculture House in Dublin, will also receive kiosks.
The touchscreen kiosks will provide access to the department's Web site. Other government Web sites and sites related to Irish farming concerns will also be accessible through the kiosk. The kiosks will also include printers.
Project costs were not disclosed. Department officials said that following a trial period of unnamed length, kiosks would be installed at field offices throughout Ireland's 26 counties.
