Iowa organization deploys QA Graphics' Energy Efficiency Dashboard

November 24, 2009

QA Graphics, a designer of graphical user interfaces (GUI), has announced that AIA Iowa, a chapter of the American Institute of Architects, has deployed QA's Energy Efficiency Education Dashboard, an interactive, touchscreen device that educates visitors on the new building's "green" features.

According to a news release from QA Graphics, AIA Iowa's new office has been renovated, with the goal of achieving the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy Efficient Design Gold Interior Certification. The company deployed the QA's EEED as a way to facilitate the exposure of its environmental efforts.

Jessica Reinert, deputy director for AIA Iowa, says the group also wants to educate the public about how to build sustainably:
We hope the public and AIA Iowa visitors gain the knowledge of the practices of sustainability and the environment, an understanding of how the built environment can impact energy efficiency, how the AIA Iowa office is used as a model for energy efficient design, and an insight into what the USGBC's LEED rating system is.
QA Graphics says the EEED features an interactive tour that pinpoints the building's sustainable improvements and compares them to an LEED checklist. Examples of AIA Iowa's sustainable practices include using recycled content, certified wood and locally manufactured materials; reducing lighting; and controlling lighting and temperature to maximize the space's energy efficiency.
