SAN JOSE, Calif. - Witnessing growing interest in its SLC-based Flash solutions for industrial applications, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. announced it is fortifying relationships with major solid-state storage suppliers.
According to a news release, Samsung's SLC NAND Flash technology provides enhanced performance and proven industrial-grade reliability for embedded and industrial applications. It has replaced rotating hard drive technology in applications within the telecommunications, military, medical, aerospace and automotive market segments.
"We have long understood the importance of SLC technology in satisfying the needs of the industrial sector for greater durability, increased longevity and high processing speeds," said Tom Quinn, senior vice president, sales and marketing, Samsung Semiconductor.
Alan Niebel, chief executive officer of Web-Feet Research Inc., said "The industrial market is growing at a steady pace and we're seeing that performance and reliability demands will continue to drive customers to SLC technology as the memory of choice for industrial and embedded applications."
The enterprise system OEM storage market is expected to approach $2.6 billion by 2008, according to Web-Feet, and is growing at an annual rate of 48.1 percent.
