COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Input Technologies introduced the AdaptaKey customizable system for owners of MetalKey industrial keyboards, according to a company news release.
AdaptaKey allows integrators to specify unique embedded codes into any MetalKey product, enabling convenient key combinations for specific applications. Using AdaptaKey, field technicians can execute particular key commands instantly-even on simplified keyboard layouts.
For example, on MetalKey systems where the CTRL, ALT or DELETE keys don't exist, users will still be able to access the reboot command with one keystroke combination-such as LEFTSHFT + PGUP + END. To the host system, the new combination is interpreted as the CTRL-ALT-DEL sequence.
Each MetalKey user can specify their feature subset-up to 32 different custom sequences. Each client can also secure his access codes from the public. Input Technologies chose to offer the custom subset to each individual client so that its customers wouldn't be forced to learn one pre-set sequence of hidden codes.
The AdaptaKey service is a FREE offering to all MetalKey customers regardless of their purchasing volume.
"As with all services offered by Input Technologies, we don't feel that clients should be penalized with extra service fees simply because they are a lower-volume purchaser," said Kurtis Van Kampen, President of Input Technologies. "AdaptaKey is a valuable asset to all users, whether they are single-unit or volume client."
Client-specified subsets are programmed directly into MetalKey's electronics at time of manufacture, eliminating the need for any secondary drivers. Each client's unique subset is maintained in Input Technologies' database, along with an associated identifying code. When clients place future orders, their identifying code(s) can be noted on their purchase order, ensuring their MetalKeys contain the proper code.
